Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight By Philip E. West

A superb original oil on canvas by one of this countries leading aviation artists, Philip E. West. The painting depicts the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight over flying the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Apart from this painting being a unique work of art I can find no record of this painting being produced as a print. This would indicate that it may have been a private comission.

The painting comes in what can only be described as a very low quality frame but I have decided not to replace it and leave it up to the new owner to decide how to best frame it. If required the frame could be removed and only the canvas shipped.

As this painting has no glass we will be happy to ship it anywhere in the world. UK postage will be free of charge rest of the world at cost.

Bristol Blenheim MkIV. By Philip West

An original pencil drawing of a Bristol Blenheim MkIV.

The Bristol Blenheim was a British light bomber aircraft designed and built by The Bristol Aeroplane Company (Bristol) which was used extensively in the first two years, and in some cases, throughout the Second World War.

The Blenheim was one of the first British aircraft with an all-metal stressed skin construction, retractable landing gear, flaps, a powerful gun turret and variable-pitch propellers. The MkI was faster than most fighters in the late 1930s but the advance in development of the monoplane fighters made all bombers more vulnerable, particularly if flown in daylight, though it proved successful as a night fighter. The Blenheim was effective as a bomber but many were shot down. Both Blenheim types were used by overseas operators, being licence built in Yugoslavia and Finland.
