Two Original Black & White Photographs Of An Avro 707

The Avro 707 (also known as Type 707) was a British experimental aircraft built to test the tailless thick delta wing configuration chosen for the Avro 698 jet bomber, later named the Vulcan.
In particular, the low-speed characteristics of such aircraft were not well known at the time. Aerodynamically, it was a one-third scale version of the Vulcan.

Two Republic Aviation Corps Black & White Photos Of An F84-F Thunderjet

One photographs has printed details stuck to the reverse, dated 1951, the other appears to have had the details removed.

Gloss paper finish.

Some indentations and handling marks.
Each photograph has a horizontal crease the full width across the top of it plus other creases and folds.
One photograph has had its white border removed.

Wooden MTB By The Japanese Company Ito Circa Late 1940s /Early 1950s

A lovely wooden Motor Torpedo Boat by the Japanese company Ito.
Circa 1940s/50s. This model was built before Japan went over to making tin plate toys after the war. Comes with contemporary painted wooden stand

Approx. size: including stand and boat's fittings, length 46cms, width 14cms, height 21cms.

Internal fittings for batteries intact.
Switch works but the boat has NOT been tested with batteries.

An interesting Second World War era heavy bomber (possibly Lancaster) altimeter.
Air Ministry mark to reverse.
In wooden case made from an old pine packing crate.
Marked on dial to 45,000 feet.

A First World War Turkish POW Wooden Carved Swagger Stick Macedonia 1918

An interesting and unusual First World War Turkish P.O.W. wooden swagger stick.
With the inscription "Turkish Souvenir Prisoner of War Macedonia 1918" carved alongside a snake with a lizard in its mouth.
Additional carved decoration to knop area.

A very nice miniature copy of a French Napoleonic flag for the 51st Regiment of Line
In silk with gilt and black embroidery. Framed and glazed.

The flag has not been removed from the frame to be examined but appears to be in very good condition.
The embroidery and fabric appear to be free from snags, tears, fraying, etc.
The frame is sound with very minor scratching to moulding.
Hanging hooks and wire are sound.

Late 19th/Early 20th Century Painted Wooden H.M.S. Vengeance Picture Frame

A lovely late 19th/early 20th Century painted wooden picture/photograph frame in the form of a lifebuoy.
Marked H.M.S. Vengeance.
With a round painted glass covering an oval picture/photograph aperture in a green/gold painted mount.
Contains a contemporary sepia portrait photograph of two boys, the younger wearing a cap with a Royal Scottish Reserve Regiment thistle cap badge.

Some rubbing, scratches, marks and minor losses to the paint on the frame.

Published in 18 weekly parts by Hutchinson & Co. (Publishers) Ltd., price 6d.
It is noted on the front cover that all royalties will go to the British Red Cross and that this original edition is entirely unexpurgated.
No dates are given but the publisher mentions shortages and rationing of paper so they are most likely early war-time issue, paper rationing was introduced September 1939.
The issues are illustrated with black and white photographic plates, and have advertisements to the inside of the covers.
Many end and/or begin mid sentence.
The front cover design is slightly altered in colours used from Part 10.
Part 18 contains the index.

Please note owing to poor quality paper all the parts are susceptible to damage if handled heavily.
All parts are in a used condition and have, to a greater or lesser degree:

Covers - discolouration, stains, marks, bumping, creasing, flaking and tears.
Parts 1 has a long split up the spine.
Part 16 - Back cover detached but present.
Part 18 - Cover completely detached (but present) from issue and the front and back are separated.

Pages - tight to staples.
Bumping and creasing to corners.
Edges are grubby, with slight foxing and handling marks but otherwise clean and unmarked.
Discolouration with age.
Rusty staples.
